Ex Pop Idol Will Young has signed up to a ‘ghostly’ new drama on digital channel Living.

The six-part series, Bedlam, sees the singer-turned-actor – last seen in youth drama Skins – playing a haunted flatmate called Ryan, alongside Charlotte Salt of The Tudors, A Passionate Woman actor Theo James and Ashley Madekwe (Secret Diary of a Call Girl).

The show is set in an apartment block called Bedlam Heights, a former pre-Victorian lunatic asylum where things swiftly start to go bump in the night.

Will said he can’t wait to start work on the drama, which is due to air on Living in early 2011.

“I’m so excited to be part of Bedlam,” he said. “The scripts are fantastic and original, as are the other actors involved, and I can’t wait to get my teeth into the role of Ryan.”

The channel’s Director of Television, Claudia Rosencrantz, said the show is about “very frightening things happening to very beautiful people”.

She added: “We’ve been searching for ages for the right idea to launch Living into original drama and Bedlam is the perfect fit. It’s sexy, stylish and truly scary.”
