Denzel Washington and John Travolta go head to head in director Tony Scott’s high-speed remake of classic 1970s thriller The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, which comes out on Blu-ray and DVD on 11 January. Travolta plays the enigmatic Ryder, the leader of a gang of four ruthless gunmen who hijack a crowded New York subway train – Pelham 123 – and demand a multi-million dollar ransom from the city authorities. As the one-hour countdown to the ransom deadline ticks away, a battle of wits develops between the vengeful Ryder and unassuming train dispatcher Walter Garber – played by Washington.
