X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Blu-ray Triple Play Edition

Hugh Jackman is back, razor-sharp claws at the ready, in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, reprising the role that turned the former song-and-dance man into a Hollywood action star – Marvel mutant superhero Wolverine. And to mark the film’s release on Blu-ray and DVD on 19 October we have three copies of the Blu-ray Triple Play Edition, bursting with bonus material, to give away, courtesy of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

A fan favourite in the trio of X-Men movies, Jackman’s adamantine-clawed fighter is the first of the X-Men family to get his own blockbuster spin-off. Helmed by Gavin Hood, the Oscar-winning South African director of Tsotsi, X-Men Origins: Wolverine goes back in time to explore the character’s tragic origins and to uncover the violent and shadowy events leading up to the first X-Men movie.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Hugh Jackman’s adamantine-clawed fighter Wolverine

Opening in 1840s Canada, the film reveals how the young James Logan (né Howlett) discovered his mutant powers and the truth of his parentage at the same murderous moment. Running away with his half-brother Victor Creed, aka Sabretooth (Liev Schreiber), Logan fights alongside him in a series of wars, until he is recruited by US major Stryker (Danny Huston) into a team of mutant soldiers in Vietnam. Disgusted by the carnage, however, he withdraws from Team X, only to be drawn back into the fray years later by the death of his beloved.

Packed with extras, the Blu-ray Triple Play Edition contains three copies of the film (Blu-ray, DVD and a digital copy for portable players) and gives fans the opportunity to dig even deeper into the Wolverine legend. The extras include commentaries by Hood, and producers Lauren Shuler Donner and Ralph Winter, a conversation between Wolverine creator Len Wein and Marvel legend Stan Lee, deleted and alternative scenes, featurettes and an extended documentary, plus four interactive tracks offering picture-in-picture director’s commentary, storyboards, character connections and trivia.
