The 16 finalists in The X Factor 2011 have been revealed as the judges’ houses stage of the show came to an end on Sunday night.

And there were a few surprises in the line-up, as favourites including Scottish singer Jade Richards and two-time semi-finalist John Wilding were sent home, while the likes of James Michael and Sophie Habibis – who had not been so heavily featured on the show – made it through to the live shows.

There were also a few shocks in the groups category, with Tulisa choosing three acts who had been formed at boot camp from rejected solo singers.

In the case of one band, The Risk, she initially sent them home, only to reform them with three of the members plus Charlie Healy, one of the singers in rejected boy band The Keys.

And viewers also saw Louis choose Goldie Cheung for his final four, a decision made before she decided to quit the show last week.

She will be replaced in the live shows by Sami Brookes.
