X Factor finalist Diana Vickers may have to pull out of Saturday’s show after being hit by laryngitis, according to the papers.

The Sun reports that the 17-year-old – who is the bookies’ favourite to win the series – has been advised by a specialist not to sing after losing her voice.

And despite treatment, producers are not optimistic she will be able to take part on the Mariah Carey-themed show. The finalists will sing tracks by the chart-topping singer, who will also perform live.

“Diana is really distraught as she’s desperate to sing with Mariah Carey,” an insider told the paper. “But if it means damaging her voice even further then she knows it’s not worth it.”

In other X Factor news, The Sun also reports Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles has urged the public to vote for outsider Daniel Evans – just to annoy Simon Cowell.

“Daniel looks like Rick Astley’s dad and has no chance of winning and that’s why we all have to vote for him,” he told listeners. “The people at X Factor will hate us doing this. It’s going to be brilliant.”

The pool cleaner is odds on favourite to finally get his marching orders this week, with Ladbrokes offering odds of 1-2 on him being eliminated.
