Louis Walsh has tweeted “I’m staying on the X Factor” and will definitely be returning as a judge on the X Factor later this year.

Louis, 61, was initially thought to be getting the chop as show bosses are said to be determined to freshen the panel for the 11th series.

But it’s now believed that ITV have made a U-turn.

“It’s all sorted,” Louis also told The Sun newspaper. “I am coming back. I just have to sign the contract.”

Louis has been part of the X Factor panel since the show started in 2004.

Auditions for the new series begin in June, with the series due to start in the autumn, and there have been a lot of rumours about exactly who will make up the judging panel.

Now it seems certain that Louis will be joining Simon Cowell and returning judge Cheryl Cole. But there is a fourth seat to fill.

An ITV source told The Sun: “We want the panel to be as strong as it can be and if that means getting rid of people who have been on it before, so be it.

They added: “It’s not just Simon’s show – it’s ITV’s so we have a big say.”

Others rumoured to be in the running for a seat on the judging panel include former Spice Girl Mel B,  Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie and Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears.
