Louis Walsh found himself getting a little too involved with one of the groups on Saturday night’s X Factor auditions show.
Singing pensioners The Nostalgics – whose ages range from 68 to 94 – charmed the panel with their rendition of the classic song Bring Me Sunshine, accompanied by their own keyboard player.
However Gary Barlow had grander plans for the combo – suggesting that his grey-haired colleague Louis Walsh might like to join their line-up.
But he had other ideas when the mogul took him up on the offer.
“Louis, I think you’re too grey for this group,” the Take That frontman joked.
Despite this, the group found themselves winning a place at Wembley as all four judges voted them through to the next round.
“It was a ray of sunshine, I really loved it,” Gary told them, while Sharon added: “You made me smile and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The Nostalgics were one of several acts who impressed the panel on Saturday night – with other successful performers including Chinese teenager Justin Peng, soulful call centre worker Jayson Newland and 2012 contender Joseph Whelan.
The X Factor continues on Sunday night at 8pm as the latest batch of hopefuls reach Wembley Arena.
