Reality TV fans had better invest in a Sky+ box because the BBC has scheduled the new series of Strictly Come Dancing directly against The X Factor.

Last year, the Beeb recognised both shows appealed to millions and scheduled their show before The X Factor, but they’ve now declared war.

Strictly Come Dancing will now begin screening 35 minutes before The X Factor each Saturday and the shows will overlap for 65 minutes.

The Daily Mirror reports that the scheduling was a ‘slap in the face for Saturday night viewers’, then added: “The shows appeal to the same audience.”

But a BBC source said Strictly was live and had to fit between kids’ shows and Match of the Day. The X Factor was recorded and could be more easily moved.
