X Factor runner-up Andy Abraham has been tipped as the favourite to win the battle to represent the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest this spring.

Andy, who quit his job as a dustman to take part in the second series of The X Factor in 2005, is the 2/1 favourite to win Eurovision: Your Decision ahead of girl group The Revelations on 3/1.

Ladbrokes spokesman Nick Weinberg said: “Andy has the advantage of being associated with the X Factor. He’s the man to beat at this stage.”

Andy, who was beaten by Shayne Ward to the X Factor crown, will also face competition from Any Dream Will Do contestant Rob McVeigh and How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? star Simona Armstrong.

Completing the line-up of acts hoping for a spot at the Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade on May 24 is Michelle Gayle and Popstars: The Rivals girl duo LoveShy.

Meanwhile, bookies predict that the UK has only a 25/1 chance of winning the annual song contest.

Eurovision: Your Decision can be seen on Saturday March 1 on BBC One at 7pm, with a results show at 9.30pm.
