X Factor finalist James Arthur has vowed to continue on the show despite receiving medical attention after suffering a panic attack on Saturday night.

The 24-year-old sparked the health fears following his impassioned rendition of Mary J Blige’s No More Drama on the love and heartbreak themed show, with worried producers even calling an ambulance.

However paramedics decided that he did not need hospital treatment and the singer was instead ordered to rest ahead of Sunday’s results show.

“I had an anxiety attack last night, maybe because I gave everything to my performance,” said James, who will continue to be monitored by doctors.

“I feel loads better this morning after a good night’s sleep and I’m looking forward to tonight’s show – there’s no way I’m missing it.”

“An ambulance was called as a precaution but he was not taken to hospital and he will appear on tonight’s show,” an X Factor spokesman added.

“The welfare of contestants is our key priority and we work with them to provide any support that is needed.”

James is one of 12 remaining acts on the show, and is being mentored by Nicole Scherzinger along with fellow boys Rylan Clark and Jahmene Douglas.

One more act will be sent home on Sunday night’s results show, which kicks off at 8pm.
