X Factor finalist Olly Murs has admitted he never thought about getting to the final of the competition.

Olly, from Witham, Essex, will battle it out in the final of the ITV1 talent show this weekend with Stacey Solomon and Joe McElderry.

Olly said: “Ever since I got into the final 12 I just thought I’d go out each week and do the best I can, I never thought too far ahead about getting to the final.”

Indeed, Olly – the last of the Over 25s mentored by judge Simon Cowell – appeared so overwhelmed when Dermot O’Leary revealed he’d made it through to the final that he struggled to fight back tears.

He said: “If you see how my reaction built from each Sunday’s show, it was getting to the point where I was going to cry some time.”

Olly also promised that his performances in the final would include his usually dancing and ‘tight trousers’.
