X Factor runner-up Rhydian Roberts has revealed that he thinks controversial twins John and Edward are funny – but thinks the joke is “wearing thin”.

The Welsh opera singer, who lost out to Leon Jackson in the X Factor final in 2007, said the Irish twins are a short-term phenomenon.

He told The Guardian: “The twins are funny, but is it wearing thin now? I don’t mean that in a nasty way: I wish them the best of luck.”

He added: “They’ll make a lot of money in a short period of time. But I don’t think they’ll stay much longer.”

Rhydian is wearing his trademark white hair higher than ever, but he insisted he is not copying the Jedward quiff.

“I was around before Jedward and my stylist does their hair, so I should have a patent on it,” he said.

“But yes, my hair is quite big – it’s a lot whiter than Jedward’s though, and not as big as theirs.”

Rhydian said he doesn’t have a favourite in this year’s show, but singled out Olly Murs for his “consistency” and 18-year-old Joe McElderry for his “lovely voice”.
