Craig Revel Horwood set to join huge daytime show

The Strictly Come Dancing judge could be on our TV screens a lot more often

He’s renowned for being the hard-to-please judge on Strictly Come Dancing, but Craig Revel Horwood could be about to branch out and join another HUGE TV show.

The 53-year-old has reportedly been approached by ITV to become Loose Women’s first ever full-time male panellist, after he proved such a hit on the daytime show.

Speaking about the rumoured job offer, Craig said: “I love going on Loose Women. I did my first one with Peter Andre.

“I just love doing the show because you can speak candidly about things. They did ask me to join the panel full-time, so I would be on every Friday.”

But, with Strictly Come Dancing due to start in just a few months and several other commitments in his diary, Craig might not be able to fit it into his busy schedule.

“The problem is finding the time to do it. I’m booked three years in advance so it’s really tough,” he confessed.

Craig hit headlines last week when he said that Shirley Ballas – who replaced Len Goodman as Head Judge on Strictly last year – should be paid less.

Shirley’s £180,000 pay packet was bumped up by £70,000 in the wake of the BBC gender pay gap row last year, after it came to light that Len earned £250,000 for the same role.

But, Craig thinks salary should reflect experience, not gender.

Defending Len’s higher salary, Craig explained: “Len Goodman earned a major reputation and put the show on the map like we all did. We all created it from the beginning. And I don’t think it’s comparable. Sorry. It just isn’t.

“For instance Shirley Ballas in that way, you’d expect she would start on something lower because she’s never been on TV before, the show’s been going for 14 years.”

Craig added: “The point about this pay thing is, yes, I think women should be paid the same as men. That’s for sure. But what would you say to a woman coming in after you’ve been in the job for 15 years when they’ve done absolutely nothing to earn it? I don’t think that’s right.”
