It’s the semi-final of Strictly Come Dancing 2010 – and for the five remaining couples, a place in next weekend’s final is at stake. And this year, they’ve got two shows to prove themselves….
Pamela Stephenson kicked off the show in style with a Paso Doble to the Lady Gaga hit Bad Romance
It was a triumphant night for Kara Tointon, who dropped just one point on the judges’ scoreboard for her Viennese Waltz
Gavin Henson delivered a spirited samba and won praise from Craig Revel Horwood for his hip action – but he still came last
Scott Maslen and Natalie Lowe gave a dramatic performance of the Argentine Tango but the judges’ response was mixed
Matt Baker was last on the dancefloor, performing a salsa which began with Aliona Vilani perched atop the judges’ desk – but the panel were disappointed with the routine
Friday’s show closed with all the couples taking part in the ‘swing-a-thon’ – a dance-off in which they were all knocked out gradually by the judges. And it was another victory for Kara and Artem as the last pair standing….
Scott Maslen kicked off Saturday’s semi-final in nautical mood, performing a spirited Charleston with Natalie Lowe
Kara Tointon donned a sparkly pink frock to perform the rumba and wowed the judges once again – dropping just one point at the hands of Craig
He had a rough ride from the judges on Friday night – but Matt Baker impressed them with his tango on Saturday’s show
Gavin Henson fared better on Saturday night than he did on Friday, performing the Viennese Waltz, but he still finished bottom of the judges’ scoreboard
Finally, Pamela Stephenson took to the floor with a quickstep that had echoes of old Hollywood glamour – and as with previous routines of hers featured a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it costume change
The comedienne nabbed herself another full house from the judges for the performance – and is still the only contestant so far this series to score 40 out of 40
Saturday’s show ended with a performance from Take That – a busy night for Robbie Williams, who later appeared on The X Factor!
Bruce Forsyth showed off his vocal skills on Sunday’s results show, performing a light-hearted number about Goldilocks while Ola Jordan danced
And then the five remaining couples learned their fate, with Pamela Stephenson, Kara Tointon and Matt Baker making it to the final
However Gavin Henson and Scott Maslen quickly learned that they were the two couples who would not be making it to next weekend’s final
Gavin admitted he was amazed to have progressed so far in the competition – and also thanked his dance partner Katya Virshilas
Scott Maslen added that being on the show had been possibly the best experience of his life. And so onwards to the final….
