The auditions are over, and The X Factor 2011 has reached the boot camp stage – with the remaining hopefuls battling it out for a place at the judges’ houses
The crowds gathered for the first day, unaware that there was a shock in store for them
Essex girl group Two Shoes looked excited to be joining the line-up
And rocker David Wilder came complete with guitar case
However on arrival the contestants learned that only some of them would be making it through – with others sent home before they had even sung a note!
For the remainder, the challenge of singing one of four songs with another group of acts lay ahead
Some familiar faces from the auditions showed up – among them Sophie Habibis
Stefan Ramos was also hoping to be a hit with the judges
Duo Boy v Girl were one of the groups who made it through this year
Lorry driver Terry Winstanley pulled off a powerful performance at the auditions – and did the same at boot camp
Goldie Cheung delivered another bizarre performance – which involved her writhing around the stage on all fours
Irish teenager Janet Devlin admitted she was terrified of coming to London for boot camp….
….however she showed no sign of nerves when it was her turn to perform
Misha Bryan was another singer who wowed the panel at auditions – but would her boot camp performance be enough?
Once again the judges had a difficult job on their hands
The numbers were eventually whittled down to the final 60 – with Kitty Brucknell among the lucky ones – ahead of the last 32 being chosen
